Steve Ogolla, PhD (Cand.)
Steve Ogolla, PhD (Cand.) is the Managing Partner, and Head of Litigation Department at Saroni & Stevens Advocates. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He is a thoroughbred litigation counsel as well as Electoral Law and Governance expert. He has extensive experience in complex litigation and enjoys a stable record of competent representation of clients’ cases in all courts and tribunals.
He has previously worked as a Programme Officer responsible for Governance and Policy at Transparency International Kenya, TI-Kenya; and as Human Rights Lawyer and Programme Officer at the Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists, IC Kenya. He also worked as a Legal Researcher at the Konrad Adenaeur Stiftung Rule of Law Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa, Kenya Office. In these positions, he was responsible for project design and implementation, conceptualization and delivery of key position papers on devolution and cooperative governance, human rights based approach to governance, public sector institutional strengthening, and electoral law and election management.
He holds Master of Laws (LL.M) Degree in Law, Democracy and Governance from the University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from Moi University, and Post Graduate Diploma in Law (PGD) from the Kenya School of Law. His is currently pursuing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law at the University of Nairobi. His LL.M Thesis is titled: “Election Campaign Financing Regulation in Kenya: The Limits of Limitations in the Election Campaign Financing Act No.42 of 2013.” His PhD Thesis focuses on: “Election Campaign Financing Regulation in Kenya: The Limits of Formal Law.”
